Question 33
Work in small groups to write a conclusion for this investigation.
**Scientific question:** Do plants need light to grow well?
**Hypothesis:** Plants depend on light to grow healthy leaves.
A scientist put ten plants in a dark cupboard. She put another ten plants on a sunny window sill. Both sets of plants were of the same type and received the same amount of water each day.
The scientist counted the number of leaves that sprouted over a three-week period. She recorded the following observations:
- The plants in the dark cupboard each grew two new leaves, but all the leaves turned yellow and withered.
- The plants on the window sill all grew at least ten new leaves. Some leaves fell, but the rest of the leaves remained green.
