Investigating variation in leaves: use one or more trees of the same species, with leaves divided into leaflets. Collect at least 20 leaves from the same species of tree. Choose trees where you can collect leaves without having to climb onto anything. Count the numbers of leaflets on each leaf, and write them down in a list, like this: 11, 15, 12, 11, 13 … and so on.
