In the classroom model, pupils represent carbon atoms in air, plants, animals, decomposers or fossil fuels. A die selects photosynthesis, respiration, feeding, fossil-fuel formation, decomposition or combustion.

Predict what would happen to the carbon atoms if one of the processes stopped completely – for example, combustion. If you can, try it out on your model.
