Question 60
Work in small groups.
1. Fill two beakers with 100 cm³ of water each. Measure and record the temperature of the water in each beaker.
2. Measure out 10 g of sodium hydrogen carbonate. Add it to the first beaker of water.
3. Stir the solution. Measure and record its temperature.
4. Measure out 10 g of potassium chloride. Add it to the second beaker of water.
5. Stir the solution. Measure and record its temperature.
Repeat with different amounts of the salts. Create a table or chart to record and compare the temperature changes for the different solutions. Draw line graphs to show how the temperatures of the solutions changed over time. Explain whether the reactions are exothermic or endothermic.
