Question 69
Preparing copper chloride: place 25 cm³ dilute hydrochloric acid in a small beaker. Add copper carbonate a spatula at a time until no more reacts and a little solid remains. Filter off the excess solid, then heat the filtrate gently in an evaporating basin. Stop when crystals appear at the edge; leave for a few days to cool and crystallise. Hot solution may spit and burn. What did you observe when you added copper carbonate to hydrochloric acid?
