Identifying a mystery metal. It is one of the metals in the reactivity series. You may observe its appearance and investigate reactions with water, oxygen and dilute acid; you must use some displacement reactions. Treat the unknown metal with care and handle it with forceps. After the teacher approves your plan and risk assessment, carry out the investigation. Record every test result. If new information suggests a change of plan, ask your teacher first and record the change and reasons.
